Summary: When did you last Google yourself? Will and Carla Frost are asleep in bed, eager to awake within a few hours to pick up their daughter and her boyfriend who are returning from their vacation. Will is awoken when his cell phone starts to ring at 3AM. The call came through on his personal cell phone, which only Carla and his daughter, Libby use, he answers it expecting Libby, but instead a voice asks, “when did you last google yourself, Mr. Frost?”. Will then proceeds to google himself and he finds a website by his name. On that website, he finds photos of the inside of his home, along with photos of houses he’s never seen before. The first strange house contains photos of the interior, but also a gruesome murder. Will is then told that his family is in danger and the only way to save them is to visit each of the houses in person, before the police discover what has happened there. Seven houses. Seven gruesome murders. Seven chances to save his family.

My Thoughts:

This is a very well developed mystery thriller. I loved the story line. The moment when Will received the anonymous call at 3AM, I was absolutely hooked! I honestly struggled to put this down. I wanted to keep reading to see how everything was going to play out.

Along with the story line, another thing that I really loved were the characters. I felt that they were very nicely done. Parker captured the emotions, reactions, and mannerisms of each character perfectly. I am certain that everything that Carla did and felt is how a real life mother would feel if something like this were to happen to her daughter. The feel of these characters is very real and genuine.

There was one part, small and only lasting a second, that was disturbing. When Tam is first introduced, he’s working a delivery job, standing outside and smoking. He throws the cigarette down when he hears a scream. He decides not to tell his father about the scream he heard, because who would believe a six year old boy. I had to read this part again to make sure I was reading it right. I cannot picture or even imagine a six year old smoking!

In summation, I loved this book! It is so intense and scary that my heart was beating throughout the entire book. I definitely do not want to say that the story is predictable, but towards the end, I took a guess as to why this was all happening and it turned out I was correct. It’s such a great ending and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! AND it ends with a cliff hanger! I’m hoping there will be a continuation!

Mystery and thriller lovers will not be disappointed with this one. I will warn you though, it is immensely gory. If you’re squeamish, I do not recommend this for you.

After highly recommending Scare Me, I hope you will read it! It has secured a slot on my Best Books in 2013 list, which I will post at the end of the year. Right now, it costs $1.99 in the Amazon Kindle Store. Check it out!
